"Iceberg" is all about the greens of summer, literally! I have a stash of beautiful hand woven Uzbek silk organza perfect for this regal scarf. Carefully wrapping the silk using the Arashi Shibori technique which took multiple hours, I hand dyed the silk in various dye baths to create color gradation. With the natural sizing that comes with gorgeous silk organza, wear it in multiple ways for full drama effect.
Measurements: 78" x 18" (when fully flat)
Care Instructions for Silk Organza:
**FULL DISCLOSURE: Regretfully, silk does not hold a pleat or crease permanently. When wet, the silk will flatten out revealing the true arashi shibori dye design. If you want to avoid loosing the pleating, do not wash or dry clean your scarf. Enjoy the structure while you have it and when ready, hand wash and enjoy this wonderful silk and the beauty of arashi shibori when flat. (Take a look my other shibori scarves to see what arashi shibori looks like when ironed flat. Just as beautiful!)
Silk is a natural protein fiber. Silk organza has natural sizing and holds it’s structure quite well. Silk can be hand washed. No need to dry clean. Prepare a luke-warm bath using gentle soap or detergent (I like natural olive oil soap without fragrance). Gently hand wash the silk and rinse well. Gently remove excess water in a towel or a small home spinner (I have a home spinner for all my felts and any gentle fabric). While damp, use an iron on silk setting and iron the silk while blocking the shape. The original sizing immediately returns, and you are ready to go!
NOTE: Please do not use harsh detergents as it can remove the sizing of the organza. Unless, of course, you want something less stiff and more fluid, then remove the sizing with a tiny bit of orvus paste or synthropol.
ENJOY!
